Hand to Hand seeks to:
....Nourish homeless and hungry people with Love, Compassion, and Food.
.....Serve unconditionally......no one is ever denied food!
.....Raise consciousness regarding un-housed individuals!
.....Create a sense of community for all! |

.....Raise the quality of life for those who live on the streets--providing them with clean clothes, prayer, homeless memorial services, can openers, blankets, hygiene items, razors, haircuts, and other necessities.
.....Offer spiritual support!
Hand to Hand’s vision:
We would like to have our own facility where we could serve 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, we would like to partner with other established organizations to create a network of resources for our guests—medical care, job counseling, housing placement, etc.
What is different about Hand to Hand?
***We refer to those who come through our lines as “guests” just as if they were visiting our home.
***Hand to Hand doesn't try to fix anyone--we simply meet our guests where they are at this moment in their lives and provide an unconditional loving space. For those who express an interest in help we connect them to the proper resources. (part of our vision is to do this on a much broader scale).
***As you get to know our guests you will see they are just like us and we are just like them—there are many stories out there!! We hear their trials & challenges but we also share in their hopes & dreams !!
***One of favorite services is what we call "Roaming Love" in which our volunteers simply walk around and spend time with our guests. They sit and engage in conversation--they listen, encourage, & pray with our guests
***We provide a prayer table where our guests can seek spiritual support.
***We offer bibles & other inspirational reading material.
***We set up a library where guests have access to books, magazines, & newspapers.
***We have volunteers who come down and give free haircuts.
***We procure blankets every year to share with our guests.
***Debbie Baxter, our director, loves celebration and on each holiday she tries to make it special. Several times a year we have catered meals and desserts—some with decorations and music! These occasions provide a little taste of home--things that we might take for granted but are cherished by those who are without shelter and often estranged from their family.
***Throughout the year we try and include some hand-written notes of encouragement in the lunch sacks.......the list goes on & on!!! :o)
